I just found out that "deathism" isn't mentioned a single time in the English wikipedia.

Since it's a (somewhat) common term when discussing immortality, I think that an article or at least a mention should be needed.

I'm thinking of creating an article myself, but I need some good sources for the definition, as well as someone with a good knowledge of the english language. I'd love some help.

What are you defining as deathism?

    A quick googling gave me

Deathism: The set of beliefs and attitudes which glorifies or accepts death and rejects or despises immortality.

Basicly, the type of people who are against anti-aging science, since they think that death must be achieved. Either because god says so and/or because other genererations should be allowed to live instead. One argument many deathists use is that "dying is natural", thus we shouldn't be immortal.

"Either because god says so and/or because other genererations should be allowed to live instead.."

Yes, other generations be allowed to live, than become conscious of thier mortality, come to a belief in God for the worst reasons possible, i.e. fear of death, than pass on the gene to the next generation to also become conscious of thier mortality, come to mystic fear, than die..

No, it never made sense to me, and so I refuse to reproduce. If enough of us were of like mind (Europe, South Korea, Japan, though not philosophically conscious of it) than society would literally be forced to invest in radical life extension, because too many of us refused to inflict the certainty of death on those who aren't even conscious yet.

Not to mention, the improvement in economic opportunities that would ensue after the birth rate drops low enough (world wide, because of the tendency for advanced nations to externalize the demand for labor outside).

Sout Korea is investing in radical life extension because of thier low birth rate.

My motto is "the selfish gene stops here!", in other words, if my dna wants to continue to survie, than it has to ensure the consciousness that is dependant on it continues.
