"Either because god says so and/or because other genererations should be allowed to live instead.."
Yes, other generations be allowed to live, than become conscious of thier mortality, come to a belief in God for the worst reasons possible, i.e. fear of death, than pass on the gene to the next generation to also become conscious of thier mortality, come to mystic fear, than die..
No, it never made sense to me, and so I refuse to reproduce. If enough of us were of like mind (Europe, South Korea, Japan, though not philosophically conscious of it) than society would literally be forced to invest in radical life extension, because too many of us refused to inflict the certainty of death on those who aren't even conscious yet.
Not to mention, the improvement in economic opportunities that would ensue after the birth rate drops low enough (world wide, because of the tendency for advanced nations to externalize the demand for labor outside).
Sout Korea is investing in radical life extension because of thier low birth rate.
My motto is "the selfish gene stops here!", in other words, if my dna wants to continue to survie, than it has to ensure the consciousness that is dependant on it continues.
