    Genetic "programming" informs the organism at a cellular level; there is nothing "dark" about the basic survival imperative, it is in fact quite sublime in its manifestations. Even if it were 'dark' (another anthropocentric train wreck from a meta-language viewpoint), wasn't Dawkins the one that said any kind of genetic or subliminal programming could be over-ridden? I've found that to be the case with me, certainly.

    By dark I'm making a reference to suffering and the fact that genes create humans that will pass themselves on - rather than humans that will be optimally happy - thus they (the genes) in this context are seen as having a 'dark' purpose. Not that I think that genes are conscious.

    You have over-ridden your genetic programming? Do you take a shit? ;)
