This could perhaps work in a parliamentary system that has proportional representation, where you may succeed in getting enough seats to swing some important votes in your favor, but a political party based on Transhumanism would never work in the United States, which I think everyone can agree is an important world power. Here the system is set up for two major parties, and in any case Transhumanist issues  do not have a broad enough scope to base an entire political party on. Many Transhumanists also disagree with each other on important political issues that are outside the scope of Transhumanist interests.

 
In the United States, setting up a new political party may actually be detrimental to our cause, because a Transhumanist canidate is very unlikely to actually get elected, and the people who do vote for them are taking away their votes from the major party candidate who is most friendly to technological progress and actually stands a chance of being elected. 

A Transhumanist movement in this country is more appropriate as a special interest group, with a political action committee to lobby congress. That is how effective politics is done in the U.S. This is what I would promote in the United States if we want to have political influence here. The other thing we must do, is, instead of forming our own party, we should "latch on" to one of the two major political parties here. Attach our interests to their agenda. A couple of examples would be what the Christian Right has very successfully done with the Republican Party, or how the Gay Rights movement has become part of the Democratic Party. This is the kind of political activity that Transhumanists should be looking at doing, at least in the United States.
