Transhumanist themes in the comic strip "Brewster Rockit"

I have found "Brewster Rockit" to be quite funny and to have some Transhumanist themes at times running through it.  The current storyline is of a thick-headed starship captain and his sidekick who encounter a monolith (ala 2001) that offers them the chance to transcend their humanity.  I love it when the monolith says to the captain "you're not even trying to evolve!"  "Now get your socks off the floor!"

Be sure to read it from June 4th (my link takes you there) to the present day.

I wonder how much the comic strip creator knows about Transhumanism beyond having seen the classic film "2001."
