Open source teledildonics

Thanks to George for pointing me to this Wired post discussing this teledildonics wiki at Opendildonics.org.

For those who don't spend enough time online, teledildonics is at the intersection of sex and technology. Not porn and technology; that intersection is the internet. But the act of sex itself.

The Opendildonics.org wiki is run by Kyle Machulis, a former robotics engineer who now teaches people how to assemble their own teledildonic interfaces for remote sex.

There's not much on the new wiki yet, but I assume that as Kyle updates it, it will become a rich source for anyone looking to create new interfaces for their Nintendo Wii or add a new dimension to Second Life.

DIY teledildonics makes total sense in an age when people can create their own universe--including their own genetalia--in virtual worlds. With the right tools and a few spare parts, they can now extend their experiences. And possibly never leave the computer again.

How does this work exactly?

Would people be more likely to jack off with their lives in a fantasy world?

Might be useful for helping couples cope with long distance relationships.
