Renaissance: A movie about life extension and consumerism

Surprisingly, I just learned about a new movie coming out next week called Renaissance. The movie is of particular interest to Betterhumans members because (a) it's freaking cool and (b) it addresses life extension. That's why I'm surprised to learn of it so late.

Here's how the Apple trailer page describes it:

In 2054, Paris is a labyrinth where all movement is monitored and recorded. Casting a shadow over everything is the city’s largest company, Avalon, which insinuates itself into every aspect of contemporary life to sell its primary export - youth and beauty. In this world of stark contrasts and rigid laws the populace is kept in line and accounted for.

Sweet, thanks for bringing that to our attention. I missed that also.

For us Linuxites with the proper codecs installed:

This totally slipped under my radar! Boy, I must be losing my science fiction film edge. Anyway, I'm gonna see this if only to see the visuals!

Are they releasing it anywhere in the States with subtitles, like art houses or something? I'd like to see it in the original language even though I don't understand a lick of French. If not, since it's animation, dubbed is fine.

It's worth seeing for the animation.  It looks gorgeous.  Unfortunately I felt a bit underwhelmed after watching it.  Ideas wise it is pedestrian and it's hard to feel any involvement with any of the characters; but don't let my moaning dampen your curiosity!  Besides,  I'm waiting for the UK DVD release to watch it again so it can't have been all that bad.

Darn this flick is not playing in Seattle. I guess I'll have to wait until DVD.
